WK&WGS Koi Show 2010 Grand Champion

Pan Intercorp

The 19th annual Washington Koi & Water Garden Society Koi Show concluded this last weekend a great success.

The Grand Champion award went to a spectacular Sakai bred Kohaku (pictured above) owned by Bill Tullis.  This is the very same Kohaku that took Grand Champion at the Portland show last month.  In just a few short weeks Bill has improved the finish of this koi even more making her the hands down choice for top honors.

Reserve Grand Champion went to a picture perfect two step Sanke owned by Chris Charbonneau.  Chris has owned this Sakai Sanke for a few years and raised her from a Tosai to her current massive size.  This Sanke is a true contender for Grand Champion at any show right now and still has room to grow and improve.  A koi to watch in the next couple of years!

Junior Grand Champion was awarded to an awesome Sakai Kohaku raised by Grant Cusworth. Great skin quality and body conformation set this koi apart from the other koi in her size class.

Below is a list of the major award winners at this years show:

Grand Champion – Bill Tullis (31 inch Rose Symbol Kohaku Sakai)
Reserve Grand Champion – Chris Charbonneau (29 inch Wakashoryu II Sanke Sakai)
Junior Grand Champion – Grant Cusworth (Sakai Kohaku)
Young Champion – Bill Tullis (Sakai Sanke)
Baby Grand Champion – Bill Tullis (Sakai Sanke)
Tategoi Champion – Bill Tullis (Isa Kohaku)

Congratulations to everyone who entered koi in the show this year and congratulations on a clean sweep of the Northwest koi shows Bill!  San Diego?
